I Need More Than Survival

Burning gates with survival message.

You call it being realistic.
Maybe not getting your hopes up.
It is usually a woman who learned that wanting things out loud was expensive.

You reached the door of More and turned around. You can name what you want in the dark, alone, quietly. Out loud, in daylight, with someone watching, the wanting turns into a liability you have to defend.

Survival taught you to keep the ceiling low. It was good instruction at the time. The instruction expired and nobody told you.

Naming what you want, then building an object that keeps naming it after your nerve fades. A hands-on method for wanting on purpose.

Your Creative Space Is a Tool

Wanting more starts with claiming physical room for it. How the space you work in either argues with you or backs you up, and what to change first.

The Accounting

Abundance arrives and the floorboards groan. The Queen, the Sage, the Caregiver, the Jester, and the Innocent gather to sort what came in and what it cost. Net worth is math. Self-worth is not.

One Accounting, Fifteen Minutes

Part 1

Take one sheet of paper and close the door.

On the first side, write: What I am doing to survive.

List everything that keeps your life from sliding sideways. The job that covers the bills. The routines that keep the floor steady. The people you manage. The details you monitor so nothing gets worse. This is the account survival has been keeping on your behalf. It may run longer than you expect.

Read the list back. Each item serves the same purpose: keep the damage contained, keep the day moving, keep the structure standing. Survival is good at maintenance. It rarely leaves much room for desire.

Turn the page over. Write: What I would want if getting through the day were already handled.

The condition matters. A direct question may bring you straight back to money, duty, and consequence. Ask it sideways instead. Imagine the bills are covered, the floor is solid, and nobody needs managing. What do you want when survival no longer gets the first word?

Write quickly. Do not edit. Do not calculate the cost.

Part 2

Tools Built for More Than Just Getting Through

For the year of asking harder questions:

52 Weeks with the Dark: Indelicate Prompts from Your Shadow gives you one prompt a week and no place to hide from it. Your Shadow already knows what you want. This is where she says it.

For the want you keep talking yourself out of:

A You-Do-You Voodoo™ doll built around an abundance or ambition intention holds the wanting where you can see it. She does not negotiate it down. That is the point of her.
